Savoring the Season: Mamablogga March/April Group Writing Project

I know things get serious around here, and also with the newly designed (thank you Dustin, we appreciate your efforts so much) http://thenarrowgateinvites.blogspot.com/ that when I saw this, well the temtpation to be sarcastic was too much!

Savoring the Season---Surrendered Scribe---Sarcastic Style

Spring. Ahhhh Spring. How you can you not savor the season of new beginnings?

First, there is the smell of rain. Constant rain. Unless you visit Upstate NY where there is still snow. Then you aren't even outside to smell anything.

There is the smell of mud. If you own a big dog, you get the added bonus of this mud leaving a legacy on your clothes. If your life works like mine, it won't be on your sweats, it will be on nice church clothes. (Our beloved dog was sent back to NY not long after our move...)

There are dirty floors tracked with mud and dripping boots. Because it's raining, don't you know.

There is the hint of buds on trees, but they for the most part remain naked.

Which is the last thing you want to be given the 25 hibernation pounds you put on.

You can enjoy kite flying those few moments it isn't raining. If you are like us, it will last but a few moments as one child will find the only tree in the county and wrap the kite around it in less than ten minutes.

How about bike riding? Well after putting air in tires you envision a lovely ride with the family until somebody inevitably gets stuck in the mud.

Why not go on a drive? After the hard winter here, you don't even need a travel agent. Just dip into one of our potholes and you are on a new continent. Ok, maybe I'm being a bit dramatic but there are people needing new tires, alignments and so on because the potholes are so deep. I saw people fishing. Ok, I'm being dramatic again.

If you stay inside you could clean but why? The mud will just turn to dust and ruin your efforts. Work on switching clothes for the season but who will see? It will still be too chilly for anyone to see the T shirts buried under your sweater.

Ah Spring. The rain, the mud, the potholes...

But it also brings on new life, transformation, emergance, beginnings. It brings us each day one step closer to summer.

So close your eyes and take a deep breath. Savor Spring.

Just don't gag on the rainy worm smell.

Your turn! The guidelines are easy and the theme is flexible as long as it is about savoring the season. Guess what? A prize is involved, so check it out! The link is below.

Come on, I'm sure you can find something to love about spring ;) . It snowed two days ago here; I'm really looking forward to spring. When it gets here.

Thanks for participating!

Oh yeah.. the car-eating potholes. Those have multiplied exponentially here. Ugh.

Great post! :-)

My favourite thing about spring are the orange blossoms. Potholes - not so much.

Ahhhh, spring!

The smell of thawing dog doo in the air and the mud oozing up your pant leg.

Thank you for the chuckle.

We have been blessed with a slow snow melt this year, so not so much mud this year. But the smell of old dog poo is oppressive.

I loved reading a little sarcasm on your blog. Very fun, you need to show your humorous side more often.
